Standard interior wall paint covers 350–400 square feet per gallon, a figure that holds across manufacturer and retailer coverage data. Primer covers less, roughly 200–300 square feet per gallon, because it soaks in.

5. Sales tax on a painting job
The average combined state and local sales tax rate in the US is 7.53%, and top-rate states run above 10%. On a $4,500 repaint that is a few hundred dollars — not enough to ignore, and it must not come out of your margin.
